Dr. Stephen J. Woodley has had an unprecedented influence on modern protected area management policy in Canada, particularly with respect to the advancement and incorporation of ecological integrity in federal protected areas legislation and associated policy. This influence is now being realized at the provincial and territorial levels of government. 

Our nation has seen few people as dedicated to ensuring our protected areas are managed effectively.
